PBL IN CHINA

05/14/2009 3:15 PM - Chicago, IL…The Premier Basketball League (www.pblproball.com) announced today that the 2009 PBL Championship game between the Rochester RazorSharks and the Battle Creek Knights was broadcasted in China on the CSPN Television Network.

“This is truly a historic day for minor league basketball, as this is the first broadcast in China of a professional minor league basketball game,” stated PBL Chairman of the Board Dr. Sev Hrywnak.

CSPN is currently the second largest sports television broadcaster in China with an alliance of six provincial sports channels, including some of the largest regional sports channels in China and a satellite sports channel.

“We are proud that the PBL has been able to set this milestone for minor league sports,” stated PBL CEO Tom Doyle. “CSPN’s coverage area of 500 million viewers has helped position the PBL as a recognized name in basketball in the largest basketball market in the world. The PBL is also currently working on bringing Chinese teams to play in the PBL as part of our continued international goodwill diplomacy program.”

“The PBL is currently working to finalize a broadcasting agreement with CSPN for the PBL 2010 season” added Dr. Hrywnak. “In addition our television broadcasting agreement with @Sports Television (www.atsportTV.com ) will ensure that PBL games for the upcoming 2010 season will be seen in approximately 75 million homes throughout North America and Europe. The household number could actually be higher as the season does not begin until January 2010 and more affiliates continue to be added to the @SportsTV lineup. This is quite an accomplishment for the PBL particularly when you consider that  it took the NBA many years to have their first game broadcast and we have done it in only eleven months.”

The @Sports Television network is the first sports network designed to be managed by fans with content also provided by fans. @Sports will be one of the leading providers of sports and sports related content to digital television channels beginning on June 17, 2009.
